Business was terrible. People got so that they wouldn't call Harlem Cab unless they were going
into East Austin. Black people called the White cab companies and did little to patronize the Black-owned company: Harlem.
We saved the company but the public didn't care. They said things like "Buy Black" but they gave their money to the
people with the slick advertisements and the pretty new cars. We decided to change the name to Austin Cab and saw an
immediate jump in business for our drivers.
It is sad commentary that "WE" do not support each other. That is truth.
